"But O, how bitter a thing it is to look into happiness through another man's eyes."
-William Shakespeare
I was looking for a good quote about happiness and this one captured, in my eyes, all that a quote should be--as Shakespeare was so magnificent at doing--the ability to say so much in such little words. When its meaning hit me, I sighed that of an aha moment when the world opens up a little more than it was before and you now have a new way of seeing an old thing. "...happiness through another man's eyes." as said here will never equal your happiness. This immediately brought me to the pressure of the idea of success in society's eyes and how it can plague anyone not reaching it. Whether it'd be making more money, having the better status or the perfect marriage and children...the grass always seems greener on the other side. "But O, how bitter...", Shakespeare, the intrinsically wise poet, proclaimed! Take his word! Your happiness lies only within you and what you see as happiness may not be seen through another man's eyes. The important lesson here is to listen to your own heart and not that of another because that with never bring you happiness.
Best of luck & joy on each of your journeys!
